Celebrating the Aquino Revolution

“Every great magic trick consists of three acts. The first act is called “The Pledge”; The magician shows you something ordinary, but of course… it probably isn’t. The second act is called “The Turn”; The magician makes his ordinary some thing do something extraordinary. Now if you’re looking for the secret… you won’t find it, that’s why there’s a third act called…

At this day, February 25, 2012, 26th Anniversary of EDSA People Power, I clearly can’t stop myself blogging about what’s happening to us and how we distort the historical celebration of EDSA I.

I can never say how historical the event was, being born a few years after it, but I’m pretty much sure that it is more than the Yellow Family’s elation day. From what I heard from my parents, this same day back in 1986 was not as majestic and grandeur as what we believe it was. Rosaries and flowers against guns and tanks we really just the drama part the whole picture. The “whole country” (or should I say, just the Metro) was filled with tension and fear of what might’ve happen. I’m not, in any way, being a KJ with our holiday but right now, all the stories I see on TV, narrated by famous people, are creamed with the Yellow Family’s pictures.

Really!? Yellow Family is the center of EDSA I?!

All special documentaries created are now marked with a yellow ribbon of the Aquino family when it should be marked by the nation’s flag raised by Juan Dela Cruz himself. We see the moment when Ninoy’s coffin was opened exposing his corpse creating a heroic illusion. We hear Cory’s “Tama na. Sobra na. Palitan na” speech. We hear Noynoy’s speech proclaiming his mother the victor. And Kris Aquino can’t stop talking. Why are they the focus? Why do we even “love” them? And why to we keep clinging to what they say? This never was, is and will be the Philippines if we keep kneeling down to the Yellow Ribbon Theory. This place was just Madness.

God help us but if there is really a Cory Magic, we are just waiting for the last act.

“The Prestige”; this is the part with the twists and turns, where lives hang in the balance, and you see something shocking you’ve never seen before.”

God knows how much i miss you and how i wish i could just sit beside you this very moment and spend time with you the rest of the day. i miss the quiet times where i’m just holding your hand, looking at your face, and the times you get pseudo-mad and pout. you never fail to make me smile.
